The Middle East is currently on a knife-edge as Iran begins a massive retaliatory campaign against United States military positions across the Gulf region.

This sudden escalation follows the joint military strikes launched by Israel and the US against Iranian targets earlier.

Reports from Al Jazeera indicate that Iran is now focusing its fire on US bases located in Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Kuwait.

The situation has forced several nations to take immediate safety measures, with Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE officially closing their airspace to civilian flights.

In Qatar, the Ministry of Defence confirmed that its Patriot missile defence system successfully intercepted an Iranian missile on Saturday. Meanwhile, the sound of explosions has caused panic in Kuwait, where residents reported loud blasts echoing across the country.

The tension hit a new high in Bahrain after a missile attack targeted the headquarters of the US Navy’s 5th Fleet. Security remains tight as the region braces for further impacts. In the UAE, a massive explosion was also heard in the capital city of Abu Dhabi, though the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

This wave of attacks signals a dangerous new phase in the conflict. As the world watches, the closure of key flight paths and the direct targeting of US assets have raised fears of a full-scale regional war.
