TrumpRx launches to cut US drug prices using global pricing deals, offering major savings on diabetes, fertility and specialty drugs.
President Donald Trump has launched TrumpRx, a new government-backed platform aimed at reducing the high cost of prescription drugs in the United States.
The platform, accessible via TrumpRx.gov, is designed to help patients bypass traditional pharmaceutical middlemen, whose markups have long pushed US drug prices far above global averages.
TrumpRx focuses on one goal: making essential medicines more affordable for people paying out of pocket.
Why TrumpRx Could Change Pharmacy Prices
At the heart of TrumpRx is Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) pricing, a policy that ties US drug prices to the lowest rates paid in other developed countries.
For years, Americans have paid significantly more for the same medicines sold cheaper in countries such as Canada, Germany and France. The new system seeks to end that gap.
The administration says it has reached pricing agreements with 16 major pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Novo Nordisk.
How Much Are Prices Dropping?
Early figures suggest substantial savings for patients who pay cash for their medications.
Some of the biggest reductions include:
Diabetes and weight loss drugs: Ozempic, often priced above $1,000 per month, is listed at about $350. Wegovy drops from $1,349 to as low as $199 for the first two months.
Fertility treatments: IVF drugs such as Gonal-F may see price cuts of up to 83%, saving families more than $2,000 per treatment cycle.
Other prescription drugs: Across 43 listed medicines, average discounts stand near 50%, with some specialty drugs reduced by as much as 93%.
How the Platform Works
TrumpRx does not sell medications directly. Instead, it serves as an official price comparison and access portal.
Users can:
Search for their prescribed medication
View the lowest available cash price from participating manufacturers
Print a discount coupon for local pharmacies or purchase directly from the drugmaker’s website
The process avoids complex paperwork and insurance approvals.
Who Benefits Most from TrumpRx?
The platform is mainly aimed at uninsured Americans and those with insurance plans that do not cover certain brand-name drugs.
Patients with low insurance co-payments may already be paying less. TrumpRx clearly advises users to compare prices before switching.
Still, for an estimated 27 million uninsured Americans and millions on high-deductible plans, the initiative represents a major shift in how prescription drugs are priced and accessed.
