ISWAP Terrorists Kill Soldiers, Raid IDP Camp

Multiple deaths reported as ISWAP terrorists overrun a military base and IDP camp in a dawn raid in Borno State.

Military vehicles destroyed after an ISWAP terrorist attack on a base in Borno State.

Ngoshe town in Borno State is currently in mourning following a violent dawn raid by ISWAP militants. The attackers, who struck around 4 am on Wednesday, targeted both a military outpost and a IDP camp housing displaced persons.

The assault was highly coordinated. Witnesses say the insurgents moved in large numbers, quickly overrunning the 82 Div TF Battalion. They didn't stop there.

After setting military equipment and vehicles on fire, they moved to the nearby IDP camp, burning down shelters and attacking vulnerable civilians.

The situation remained chaotic until daybreak. Reports indicate the terrorists went house-to-house, searching for soldiers who might have sought refuge among the locals. They also made away with a large, unquantified amount of ammunition after destroying armored tanks.

While the exact death toll is still being calculated, security sources confirm that several soldiers and civilians lost their lives. Many survivors are still hiding in the surrounding bushes, too terrified to return to the community.

This latest bloodshed follows a string of similar attacks in the region. Just days ago, a high-ranking Army Major, Ibrahim Mairiga, was killed during an attack at the Banki junction.

Last month, another base in Jakana was hit, and in late January, a newly promoted Lieutenant Colonel was killed in a deadly ambush.

The frequency of these raids has sparked fresh concerns about the security of both troops and civilians in Gwoza and surrounding local government areas.

Security forces are currently working to recover more bodies and restore order. However, for the people of Ngoshe, the scars of this Wednesday morning will take a long time to heal.
