A Jigawa man kills his father by setting him ablaze in Kazaure, prompting a police investigation into the tragic incident.
The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Kabiru Nuhu, for allegedly setting his 60-year-old father ablaze.
The incident occurred on April 1, 2026, in Magama Quarters, Kazaure town.
Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the arrest in a statement. He revealed that the suspect poured a petroleum substance on the victim and ignited the fire.
Following a distress call, officers rushed to the scene where they found the father in critical condition. Surprisingly, the suspect also sustained fresh burns on his forehead, arms, and toes.
The victim was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but sadly died while receiving treatment.
The Commissioner of Police, Haruna Yahaya, has condemned the gruesome act. He assured residents that the command is working to uncover the motive behind the attack.
The suspect is currently in custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for prosecution.
