Senator Ibrahim Lamido dumps APC, citing rising insecurity in Sokoto East as the main reason for his sudden resignation.
Senator Ibrahim Lamido, who represents Sokoto East Senatorial District, has officially ended his membership with the All Progressives Congress (APC). The lawmaker announced his immediate resignation on Saturday, signaling a major political shift in the state.
He did not leave in silence. Taking to his official X account, the senator pointed clearly to the worsening security situation in his constituency as his reason for departing the ruling party.
For the senator, the safety of his people is non-negotiable. He expressed deep frustration that the APC leadership has failed to effectively address the violent crimes troubling local communities.
Residents of Sokoto East have been grappling with severe challenges, including banditry and kidnappings. Lamido noted that the welfare of his constituents remains his priority, a goal he feels is currently unattainable under the current party structure.
