Father Michael Ojo reacts to Oyo abduction of six family members by terrorists

A father is living in deep regret after terrorists snatched six members of his family during coordinated attacks on Oyo State communities.

Michael Ojo, a local farmer, confirmed that his four children, daughter-in-law, and infant grandchild are currently in the hands of heavily armed gunmen.

Speaking from Yawota community, Ojo wished he had listened to his kids. On the morning of the attack, they begged to stay home. He insisted they go to school, thinking they would be back by 1 pm.

The nightmare began around 9 am that Friday. Ojo was resting at home when he noticed strange men moving outside his window.

He had no idea they were terrorists. The gunmen had already attacked the neighboring Esiele community, about four kilometers away, targeting both primary and secondary schools.

Ojo explained that the attackers operated with a scary level of planning. They split into two groups, hit the schools, and marched their captives straight into the forest reserve.

The trauma is far from over for the family. A viral video from the incident shows Ojo’s daughter-in-law desperately pleading for help, with her baby strapped to her back.

There is, however, a slight glimmer of hope. Ojo revealed that security agents have tracked the kidnappers' hideout. Troops are moving carefully to avoid harming the captive children.

Meanwhile, fear has emptied the communities. Most residents have locked their homes and fled for their lives.

But Ojo says he has nowhere to run. He is staying put, holding onto the hope that his family will return home safely.
