Tay Keith, Grammy-nominated producer behind 'Sicko Mode,' dies at 29 in Nashville. Police find no foul play, autopsy pending.
NASHVILLE — Grammy-nominated hip-hop producer Tay Keith has died at 29.
The producer, born Brytavious Lakeith Chambers, was found dead in his Nashville apartment on Wednesday, June 18, 2026. Police discovered his body during a welfare check.
Metro Nashville Police confirmed the death in a public statement. "No foul play is suspected in the death of Brytavious Chambers, 29, also known as the Grammy nominated record producer Tay Keith," the department said. He was found in his Martin Street apartment by officers performing the check.
Investigators say there was no evidence of foul play at the scene. The exact cause of death has not been released. Police say the case remains unclassified pending autopsy results.
Tay Keith rose from South Memphis to become one of hip-hop's most in-demand beatmakers. He started producing at 14, uploading early work to YouTube and DatPiff.
His breakout came in 2018. He co-produced Travis Scott's "Sicko Mode" and Drake's "Nonstop" — both chart-toppers that earned him a Grammy nomination. He later worked with Beyoncé, Eminem, Cardi B, Future and Lil Nas X.
The Memphis native graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2018 and remained based in Nashville. He was widely credited for shaping the city's modern trap sound.
Tributes have poured in from across the industry since the news broke. Colleagues remember him for his signature 808s, quiet work ethic, and support for youth music programs back home.
Police say the investigation continues, but at this stage, no suspicious circumstances have been found.
