Peller Calls Out Double Standards Over ‘Certificates vs. Kulikuli’ Comments

TikTok star Peller speaking about certificates vs kulikuli and agbado debate in Nigeria

TikTok star Peller has criticized Nigerians who, he says, downplay academic qualifications while also staying quiet about calls to start small-scale businesses like selling kulikuli and roasted corn, popularly known as “agbado.”

‎In a video making the rounds online, Peller recalled the backlash he faced after saying applicants for a ₦1 million-per-month cameraman role would need to present educational certificates.

‎“At that time, many people came for me and dragged me for asking for certificates,” he said.

‎He then questioned why those same critics have been silent over recent advice encouraging Nigerians to go into small businesses.

‎“Certificate people, they want to give you people kulikuli and agbado to sell, but you’re talking about ‘Olodo uprising.’ That other time when I said they should bring certificates for a ₦1 million cameraman job, everybody started dragging me.

See now, it’s agbado and kulikuli you’ll use your certificates to collect, and you people are not talking. You people are wicked. See how they skipped it,” Peller said.

‎The creator also defended his own impact, claiming he spends between ₦10 million and ₦15 million monthly on giveaways to support others.

‎“Every month when I check how much I’ve done in giveaways, I see ₦10 to ₦15 million. It’s reached akara and kulikuli level and you’re not angry…” he added.

‎Peller made the remarks while referencing comments previously made by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, who encouraged Nigerians to embrace small-scale food production as a way
