AEW Star Pac Dies at 40 Day After All Out Match

British wrestler Benjamin Satterley, known as Pac in AEW, has died at 40, a day after his final match at All Out in Illinois.

British wrestler Benjamin Satterley, known to fans as Pac in All Elite Wrestling and Neville in WWE, has died aged 40, a day after competing at AEW's All Out event.

All Elite Wrestling announced his death on Sunday night. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

AEW Star Pac Dies After Final Match at All Out

Benjamin Satterley had been in action less than 24 hours earlier. He challenged Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship on Saturday night at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, near Chicago.

Andrade retained the title after countering Pac's Brutalizer submission into a pin. Satterley later appeared during the main event between Death Riders leader Jon Moxley and AEW World Champion Will Ospreay.

In a statement, AEW said it was saddened to announce the passing of Benjamin Satterley, aka Pac.

"A native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organisations all over the world, captivating fans with innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability," the promotion said.

"Pac signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2019 and held multiple AEW Championships and competed in some of the most memorable matches in AEW history. Our condolences go out to Satterley's family, friends and fans."

AEW president Tony Khan also paid tribute. Writing on X, Khan said Satterley "defined excellence, as a beloved husband and friend to his many loved ones, and in his wrestling knowledge, skill, unprecedented athleticism, professionalism, consistency and dedication to the sport that he loved and travelled the world to pursue."

"May Ben rest in peace," he added.

Career Across WWE and AEW

Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Satterley began his professional career in 2004 and wrestled for promotions around the world, including New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Mexico's Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre.

He became widely known as Adrian Neville and later Neville during his time with WWE from 2012 to 2018. In WWE's NXT brand, he won the NXT Championship in February 2014 and held it for 286 days before losing it to Sami Zayn. He was also a two-time NXT Tag Team champion.

On the main roster, he featured in the cruiserweight division as the "King of the Cruiserweights" and was known as "The Man That Gravity Forgot" for his high-flying style, including his signature Red Arrow corkscrew 450 splash, also referred to as the Black Arrow.

He won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at the Royal Rumble in January 2017 and held the title twice. His first reign lasted 196 days.

After leaving WWE, he returned to the name Pac and joined AEW in 2019. He became the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion, later renamed the International Championship, after winning a four-way match at Forbidden Door in June 2022. He held the title until October that year and was also a two-time AEW Trios champion.

In AEW, he adopted the moniker "The Bastard" and was known for a more physical, grinding style built around his Brutalizer front-facelock submission.

Tributes From Wrestling World

Tributes have come from across the industry. AEW described him as a wrestler who captivated fans and featured in some of its most memorable matches.

Will Ospreay described him as "the greatest export from our country" and "the greatest human being". Paul Heyman called him "a tremendous talent and even finer human being". Rhea Ripley described him as an "extremely talented person" and said it was a tragic day.

AEW recently mourned the death of former wrestler Andy "The Butcher" Williams on September 9.
