Top 10 CEOs Driving Nigeria's Telecom and ISP Growth in 2026

Group portrait of top Nigerian telecom and ISP CEOs including MTN, Airtel, Globacom, Spectranet and FiberOne leaders

Nigeria's transition from a voice-led telecoms market to a data-first economy has placed broadband leaders at the centre of national connectivity. Latest figures from the Nigerian Communications Commission show internet subscriptions reached 148.2 million as of December 2025, representing a 68.3% penetration rate, while active subscriptions on core Internet Service Provider networks rose to 420,989 in Q2 2026.

OBGist gathered that the growth is driven by four mobile network operators controlling more than 86% of internet subscriptions, and over 130 licensed ISPs providing fixed broadband, fibre-to-the-home and enterprise connectivity. Findings indicate that ten executives currently shape that market more than others, through network expansion, infrastructure investment and last-mile innovation.

1. Karl Olutokun Toriola - MTN Nigeria

Karl Toriola is the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria. He assumed the role in 2021 after serving as Vice President for West and Central Africa and as Chief Technical Officer in 2006. Under his leadership, MTN Nigeria crossed 100 million active subscribers in July 2026 and posted a 55.3% rise in profit after tax in the nine months to September 2026. MTN remains Nigeria's largest operator with over 52% market share.

2. Dinesh Balsingh - Airtel Nigeria

Dinesh Balsingh is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria. Appointed in late 2024, he has led Airtel's 2026 expansion plan, including the deployment of over 1,000 new 5G sites and the launch of the Airtel Open Network transparency platform in Lagos on October 30, 2026. Airtel recorded 67.4 million subscribers as of August 2026.

3. Mike Adenuga Jr. and Ahmad Farroukh - Globacom

Globacom has operated under its founder and Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., who doubled as CEO since the company's inception. Following corporate governance reforms by the NCC in August 2025, the company appointed telecom veteran Ahmad Farroukh as Chief Executive Officer. Farroukh previously led MTN Nigeria and MTN operations in other markets and is now tasked with driving Glo's compliance and network transformation. Glo held 23.6 million active subscriptions as of mid-2026.

4. Obafemi Banigbe - T2 / 9mobile

Obafemi Banigbe is the Chief Executive Officer of 9Mobile, now transitioning to T2. A former executive at MTN and Airtel, Banigbe was appointed to lead the turnaround of the company and announced the national roaming partnership with MTN in 2025 and the rebrand to T2 Mobile in August 2025.

5. Amrish Singhal - Spectranet Limited

Spectranet remains Nigeria's largest ISP by active customers, with 111,384 subscribers in Q2 2026. The company is led operationally by Amrish Singhal, its Chief Operating Officer, who has also been serving as CEO for nearly two years. Singhal took over the COO role in 2024 and led the company from negative EBITDA to profitability. Spectranet pioneered 4G LTE fixed-wireless in Nigeria in 2009.

6. Lanre Ore - FiberOne Broadband

Lanre Ore is the Chief Executive Officer of FiberOne Broadband, Nigeria's leading fibre-to-the-home provider. OBGist understands that FiberOne controls over 56,486 FTTH subscriptions, the second largest FTTH base after MTN FibreX. The Lagos-based operator targets one million subscribers within five years and is currently rolling out next-generation FTTH upgrades.

7. Ejovi Aror - ipNX Nigeria Limited

Ejovi Aror is the Group Managing Director of ipNX Nigeria Limited, providing strategic leadership for one of Nigeria's oldest broadband and ICT infrastructure providers. He has led the company since 2002 and oversees four divisional CEOs in business, retail, managed services and infrastructure. ipNX serves 15,636 active subscribers across 54 Points of Presence and is a key player in enterprise fibre and data centre connectivity.

8. Kendall Ananyi - Tizeti Network Limited

Kendall Ananyi is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tizeti. He founded the company in 2012 alongside Ifeanyi Okonkwo to deliver solar-powered fixed-wireless broadband to urban and peri-urban communities. Tizeti currently serves 13,996 active wireless subscribers and has expanded its core network capacity to 100Gbps.

9. Wole Abu - MainOne / Equinix West Africa

Funke Opeke, who founded MainOne in 2008, stepped down as Managing Director for West Africa in early 2025 after Equinix completed its acquisition. She was succeeded by Wole Abu, a well-known figure in Nigeria's telecommunications industry. Abu, formerly CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Nigeria, now oversees Equinix operations in Nigeria, Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire.

10. Chukwuma Okoye and Charles Anudu - Swift Networks

Swift Networks, one of Nigeria's earliest broadband providers, was founded by Charles Anudu. Charles was the founding Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Swift Networks. The company announced that Chuma Okoye was appointed Managing Director/CEO on December 20, 2023. The firm provides converged voice, video and data services to enterprise and residential users in Lagos.

Together, these executives control networks serving over 197 million mobile subscriptions and more than 420,000 active fixed broadband lines. Their decisions on fibre rollout, 5G investment, satellite integration and affordable last-mile pricing will determine how fast Nigeria closes its broadband gap and achieves the National Broadband Plan target of 70% penetration.
