Darey Art Alade Joins International Emmy Academy

Nigerian music star and creative entrepreneur Darey Art Alade has added another feather to his cap he’s officially been elected as a member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS), the prestigious body behind the International Emmy Awards.

Breaking the news on his social media, Darey shared his excitement with fans:

“Excited to announce that yours truly has been elected as a Member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (International Emmy Awards)! It’s an honour and privilege to join this prestigious global network of 900+ television executives.”

The International Academy, founded in 1969 and headquartered in New York, brings together media professionals from over 60 countries. Its mission is to celebrate excellence in television produced outside the United States. The organisation is also responsible for the annual International Emmy Awards, which recognise outstanding work in drama, comedy, documentary, news, and children’s programming.

By joining the Academy, Darey steps into a global circle of industry influencers who not only shape conversations around international television but also participate in judging the Emmy submissions that determine winners each year.

This milestone puts Darey in the same league as other notable Nigerians who have been elected members in recent years. Names on that list include Busola Tejumola (Executive Head of Content, MultiChoice West Africa), veteran filmmaker Femi Odugbemi, media mogul Tajudeen Adepetu, and Channels TV boss John Momoh.

For Darey, this is yet another achievement in a career that has seen him evolve from a celebrated musician to a powerhouse in the entertainment industry — from hit songs to producing large-scale events like Love Like A Movie.

His induction into the International Emmy Academy cements his influence beyond music, placing him among the global tastemakers shaping the future of television and storytelling.
