Trump and Musk Reunite at Charlie Kirk’s Memorial

Charlie Kirk’s death has done what months of back-and-forth could not, it brought Donald Trump and Elon Musk back together.

The former U.S. president and the world’s richest man were seen side by side on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, where more than 78,000 mourners gathered to honor the slain Turning Point USA co-founder, who was shot and killed on September 10 while addressing students at Utah Valley University.

In a moment that immediately went viral, Trump and Musk were photographed shaking hands and chatting warmly before taking their seats. Both men later shared identical posts on X, simply captioned: “For Charlie.”

Right-wing commentator Benny Johnson, who guest-hosted Kirk’s show on Monday, described the reunion as a “profound and beautiful” moment — one that Kirk himself had hoped for.

“Charlie sat in this very chair and prayed that Elon Musk and Donald Trump would reconcile,” Johnson said, gesturing to the seat in the studio. “And they did so — at Charlie’s funeral, in Charlie’s memory.”

Johnson said he witnessed Musk embrace Kirk’s widow, Erika, after the service. “He hugs Erika, looks at us and says, ‘If we don’t hang together, we will surely hang separately. So let us unite. I was proud to sit with my president tonight.’”

According to lip reader Nicola Hickling, Trump initiated the conversation by warmly asking Musk, “How are you doing?” before adding, “I’ve heard you wanted to chat. Let’s try and work out how to get back on track.” Hickling said Musk nodded in agreement, prompting Trump to add, “I’ve missed you.”

Trump and Musk Reunite at Charlie Kirk’s Memorial

Their reunion marks the first time the two men have been seen together since their bitter falling-out earlier this year.

Musk resigned from his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in May and quickly became a vocal critic of Trump’s sweeping “Big Beautiful Bill.” The tech mogul even went as far as calling for Trump’s impeachment and hinting at forming a new political movement.

Trump hit back, accusing Musk of “Trump Derangement Syndrome” and threatening to cancel his government contracts — a feud that dominated U.S. political headlines for weeks.

But Sunday’s memorial appeared to signal a fresh start. Johnson described it as Kirk’s final gift to the conservative movement: “Charlie brought together two of the most powerful, stubborn men alive — men who don’t even need each other. Somehow, even in death, Charlie was still uniting people.”

Whether the reunion leads to renewed collaboration remains to be seen, but one thing is clear — Charlie Kirk’s legacy is already shaping the future of American politics.
