Kano Court Orders TikTok Duo to Marry in 60 Days

A Magistrate Court in Kano has ordered the state Hisbah Board to ensure the marriage of two popular TikTok creators, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, within 60 days.

The directive came after the duo appeared in viral videos that the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board tagged as “indecent.”

During the hearing on Monday, October 20, 2025, Magistrate Halima Wali issued a stern warning, saying any failure to complete the marriage within the given period would be considered contempt of court.

The court further instructed the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to supervise and confirm that the marriage takes place as ordered.

According to the board, the videos released by the two content creators violated state laws that prohibit the sharing of sexually suggestive or obscene material online.

Both Mai Wushirya and Yar Guda were recently arraigned before the court for allegedly producing and distributing the controversial clips on social media.

The viral videos, which captured the pair in romantic and intimate poses, were said to contradict the moral and religious principles of Kano State.

Earlier, Mai Wushirya was remanded in a correctional centre after clips showing him shirtless and engaging in what authorities described as “immoral and demeaning acts” spread across the internet.

His partner, Yar Guda, was later invited by the enforcement unit of the Censorship Board for questioning before the case was taken to court.
