Kogi Polytechnic investigates certificate forgery syndicate involving staff and students

Kogi Polytechnic Uncovers Certificate Forgery Syndicate

The management of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has launched an investigation into a suspected certificate forgery and racketeering syndicate involving nine people.

The Rector, Prof. Salisu Ogbo, disclosed this during a press briefing on Friday, October 31, saying the case involves five staff members and four individuals posing as students.

According to him, the syndicate was exposed after internal checks and intelligence reports revealed that several forged National Diploma (ND) certificates were being used to secure Higher National Diploma (HND) admissions in the school.

“We discovered 30 fake ND certificates reportedly sold to unsuspecting buyers. Some of the culprits even applied for HND admission in the same institution using these forged results,” the Rector stated.

Prof. Ogbo explained that the group allegedly manipulated academic records in collaboration with some dishonest employees who altered grades for students that had multiple carryovers or failed courses.

“They tampered with official documents, bypassed our security systems, and undermined the credibility of the polytechnic. Such criminal acts will not go unpunished,” he warned.

He assured that the institution’s security and verification systems remain intact, adding that the management is determined to maintain integrity and restore confidence in the school’s operations.

“We will continue to expose and eliminate all forms of misconduct that could damage the reputation of Kogi State Polytechnic,” Prof. Ogbo emphasized.

The rector further confirmed that those involved are currently facing disciplinary and legal actions as investigations continue.
