White House Blasts Nobel Committee for Snubbing Trump
The White House has taken a swipe at the Norwegian Nobel Committee for awarding this year’s Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader, María Corina Machado, instead of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Reacting to the announcement, White House Communications Director, Steven Cheung, criticised the committee for what he described as putting “politics over peace.”
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Cheung said President Trump would keep pushing for global peace through his diplomatic efforts.
“President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives,” he wrote. “He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with his will. The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace.”
Trump has long maintained that his administration’s peace initiatives deserved the Nobel Peace Prize. Earlier this week, he renewed that claim, pointing to his involvement in what he called the first phase of a Gaza ceasefire — his eighth claimed peace effort.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, October 9, Trump said, “Whatever they do is fine. I didn’t do it for that. I did it because I’ve saved a lot of lives.”
