| over 200 students and teachers kidnapped win private Catholic nursery school, papiri Niger state. |
In the early hours of Friday, armed men stormed St. Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, whisking away more than 200 students and teachers according to aljazeera.
Residents described the raid as a well-coordinated operation that lasted between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. Community members who rushed to the school after the incident confirmed the invasion, noting the attackers moved swiftly and left behind panic.
Local officials also acknowledged the attack. Ahmed Abdullahi Rofia, Head of Disaster and Relief in Agwara LGA, confirmed the incident alongside Bello Gidi, media aide to the council chairman.
Gidi explained that reports reaching them suggested over 100 persons may have been taken, though the exact figure remains uncertain.
Witnesses told our correspondent that “more than a dozen” children were seen being led away, but numbers circulating in the community have not been independently verified.
Security agencies are yet to release an official statement. The Niger State Police spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, said efforts were ongoing to confirm details of the incident.
This latest attack comes barely five days after terrorists invaded Maga Comprehensive Girls’ Secondary School in Kebbi State, where about 25 female students were abducted and a staff member killed. A guard was also injured during that assault, which occurred just before 6:00 a.m.
The Kebbi attack was marked by sporadic gunfire as students prepared for morning routines, leaving behind fear and chaos.
Similarly, SaharaReporters earlier reported another deadly strike in Kwara State, where gunmen attacked Rogun Village in Patigi LGA, killing two security operatives during a fierce gun battle at a police outpost.
