Obi Cubana Urges Tinubu on Nnamdi Kanu’s Release

Popular businessman and socialite, Obi Cubana, has openly appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step in and ensure the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Cubana, in a statement shared on his social media, stressed that true peace and stability in Igboland cannot be achieved without Kanu’s freedom. He lamented the worsening insecurity across Nigeria, pointing to kidnappings of students, attacks on worship centres, the killing of a Brigadier General, and Nigeria’s recent classification by the United States as a “Country of Particular Concern.”

According to him, these troubling events have left the nation tense and unsettled. He revealed that he and other notable Nigerians have been engaging with political leaders, including the Deputy Speaker of the House and the President’s son, to discuss pressing national issues.

Obi Cubana made his position clear: “No Igbo man or woman will truly know peace until MNK regains his freedom. Ala Igbo will never remain the same without him.” He admitted emotions are running high but insisted that the demand for Kanu’s release remains firm.

He concluded by noting that while agitations are part of building strong societies, lasting solutions can only be achieved through dialogue and negotiation.
