Five talented Nigerian content creators receive top honors from the US Embassy for showcasing American brands in Nigeria.
These digital storytellers were celebrated for their winning entries in the "Made in America, Loved in Nigeria" video contest.
The event, organized by the US Consulate, was more than just an awards ceremony; it was a vibrant display of the cultural and economic bridge between the two nations.
Taking the top spot was Rasheedat Fagbenle, who emerged as the grand prize winner. Joining her on the podium were Tito Abumere, Janefrancis Odinkemma Ugwu from Abuja, Cyril Usheshe from Cross River State, and Timileyin Durotoye from Osun State.
According to Lee McManis, the Country Public Diplomacy Counsellor at the US Embassy, the initiative was birthed to deepen the relationship between the US and Nigeria. He noted that the contest highlights how American products have become part of the Nigerian lifestyle.
McManis also used the platform to reaffirm the United States’ economic commitment to Nigeria. He pointed out that over 100 major American companies are currently operating within the country, creating jobs and fostering mutual growth.
"This is more than a showcase of brands," McManis remarked during the ceremony. He described the partnership as one built on mutual respect and a shared vision for progress.
For the grand prize winner, 21-year-old Rasheedat Fagbenle, the recognition is a life-changing milestone. The final-year Political Science student at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) expressed her joy, noting that the award serves as a massive boost for her creative career.
The event concludes a successful campaign that used digital storytelling to highlight the enduring ties between the "Giant of Africa" and the United States.
