Julius Abure loses chairmanship as court orders INEC to recognize Nenadi Usman-led Labour Party committee.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed the removal of Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).
In its ruling, the court also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize the Senator Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee as the lawful leadership of the party.
The judgment was disclosed by human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, who said he was present in court when the decision was delivered in a related case.
According to Effiong, Justice Lifu, who presided over the matter on Wednesday, ruled that the Nenadi Usman-led committee remains the only valid leadership of the Labour Party.
The court reaffirmed that Abure’s tenure had already expired, relying on an earlier judgment of the Supreme Court.
Based on this finding, the judge ordered INEC to immediately recognize Senator Nenadi Usman as the party’s leader.
Effiong shared details of the ruling on social media, stating that the court’s decision leaves no ambiguity about the current leadership structure of the Labour Party.
