United States President Donald Trump has broken his silence regarding a controversial video shared on his Truth Social account.

The clip, which featured a racist depiction of former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, as apes, has sparked a massive wave of criticism.

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One late Friday, the President insisted he has no reason to apologize.

"I didn't make a mistake," Trump stated firmly, dismissing the idea that the post was a lapse in judgment on his part.

Explaining how the video ended up on his page, Trump claimed he only watched the beginning of the clip.

According to him, the first part focused on his frequent claims of "voter fraud" and issues with voting machines in the 2020 election.

He told journalists that he handed the video over to his staff to post, assuming they would review the entire content. "Generally, they look at the whole thing.

But I guess somebody didn't," he added. Despite defending the act of sharing it, Trump noted that he does condemn the racist content itself.

The video remained public for about 12 hours before it was finally deleted on Friday morning. Before the removal, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had actually defended the post.

She described the clip as a mere "internet meme" that portrayed Trump as the "King of the Jungle" and his political rivals as characters from The Lion King

Leavitt urged the media to stop focusing on "fake outrage" and report on issues that matter more to the American people.

The post was eventually pulled down following intense pressure from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers who labeled the imagery offensive and inappropriate.
