Ayodele Fayose warns that the ADC faces defeat in 2027 without Peter Obi, citing political hurdles for the former candidate.
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has sounded a note of warning to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He predicted that the party faces a major defeat in the 2027 presidential election if Peter Obi is not its candidate.
Speaking during the PDP national convention in Abuja on Sunday, Fayose did not hold back on his assessment of the opposition.
He stated clearly that the ADC’s chances are tied directly to the former Labour Party candidate.
Fayose emphasized that without Obi on the ballot, the party's ambition would crumble. He suggested that if Obi does not run, the ticket might end up with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. However, he expressed doubt about Obi's political direction.
According to him, it is impossible for Obi to return to the Labour Party. While he praised Obi as a decent person, Fayose noted that becoming president at this current time remains a difficult challenge for him.
The former governor also turned his attention to President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He offered a mixed review, stating that while he is happy with some of the President's actions, the reality on the ground tells a different story.
Fayose argued that when comparing Nigeria's past struggles with the present situation, the President has not performed well enough.
He believes that leadership requires more than just partial success to address the country's needs.
