Jos Killings: APC Chairman Calls for Justice, Modern Security

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda APC Chairman speaks on Plateau security challenges.

The blood of innocent men, women, and children spilled in Jos is crying out for justice. This was the emotional message from the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, following the tragic Palm Sunday killings in Plateau State.

Reacting to President Bola Tinubu’s recent solidarity visit to the state, Yilwatda stated that the time for routine outrage is over. He described the attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, as inhuman and cowardly. He noted that the people of Plateau deserve lasting peace, not endless mourning.

The APC Chairman made a crucial observation regarding the identity of the attackers. He pointed out that those responsible for the brutal acts are not invisible ghosts.

Instead, they are criminal elements living within or around the communities. He warned that silence, fear, or collusion only protects these killers, insisting they must be exposed and forced to face the full weight of the law.

Yilwatda also challenged security agencies to abandon outdated methods. He argued that you cannot fight smart criminals with old tactics.

He called for the immediate deployment of modern technology, such as AI-powered cameras, drones, and advanced tracking systems, to stop violence before it starts.

Highlighting the economic cost, the Chairman lamented that fear is killing the state’s potential. He stressed that investments cannot thrive where people live in uncertainty.

He urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, and youth groups to unite and support a new approach to security.

During the visit, President Tinubu, alongside Yilwatda and Governor Caleb Mutfwang, met with the families of the victims to offer support.
