Socalled ADC Faction Protests Atiku, Obi Takeover in Abuja

ADC factional leaders led a protest in Abuja, warning top opposition figures to stop plotting a takeover of the party.

ADC protesters carry placards against Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi in Abuja.

Tensions rose in Abuja on Thursday as protesters took to the streets. Their message was direct and aimed at some of the country's biggest political names.

The demonstrators called on Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso to steer clear of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). They also included former Senate President David Mark in their warning.

Leading the charge was the ADC’s factional National Chairman, Nafiu Bala. He accused these heavyweights of plotting to hijack the party. Bala was joined by House of Representatives member Leke Abejide during the march.

The crowd marched with placards bearing strong inscriptions. Some read, "Woe to Political Marauders," while others declared support for Bala.

This protest appears to be a counter-move. It follows an earlier demonstration by the David Mark faction at the INEC headquarters, signaling a deepening rift within the party.
