Trump Rejects NATO as UK, France Plan Hormuz Mission

European leaders push for a maritime mission in Hormuz as Trump publicly rejects NATO's offer of assistance.

Donald Trump gestures while speaking about NATO and the Strait of Hormuz.

European leaders have hailed the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as a critical step forward. French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are now pushing for a coordinated international response to secure the waterway.

The two leaders recently hosted a summit involving 50 nations to address the crisis. Macron demanded the full and immediate reopening of the strait by all parties involved. Starmer backed this position, insisting that the reopening must be "lasting" to guarantee global trade safety.

To ensure stability, both nations have scheduled a military planning meeting for next week. They aim to launch an international mission dedicated to maritime security as soon as conditions permit.

In a twist, US President Donald Trump has made his stance on international cooperation clear. He took to Truth Social to announce that he has rejected an offer of assistance from NATO.

Trump did not hold back in his criticism, labeling the alliance a "Paper Tiger." He stated clearly that NATO should "stay away" unless they intended to purchase oil, citing their lack of support during earlier stages of the conflict.
