Spain have been crowned 2026 FIFA World Cup champions after edging Argentina 1-0 in extra time, with FIFA also confirming the tournament's individual award winners following the final.

The highly anticipated final took place on Sunday, July 19, at East Rutherford, New Jersey, where both sides battled through a tense contest before Spain finally found the breakthrough.

The decisive moment arrived in the 106th minute of extra time when Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the match. It was his first goal of the tournament, but it proved to be the most important as it secured Spain's second FIFA World Cup title.

After the trophy presentation, FIFA announced the official honours for the tournament, recognising the best individual performances, leading goalscorers, outstanding young talent and the team that displayed the best sporting conduct throughout the competition.

Spain enjoyed a memorable night, collecting several of the tournament's biggest individual prizes after an impressive campaign that ended with the world title.

Midfielder Rodri was named the Golden Ball winner after playing a vital role in Spain's success. His commanding displays throughout the competition earned him recognition as the tournament's best player.

France captain Kylian Mbappe claimed the Golden Boot after finishing as the tournament's highest scorer with 10 goals in eight matches. The award adds another major achievement to his World Cup career.

Argentina captain Lionel Messi also received recognition following another impressive tournament, collecting the Silver Ball and Silver Boot awards after helping his country reach the final.

Spain's young defender Pau Cubarsi was honoured with the FIFA Young Player Award, while goalkeeper Unai Simon received the Golden Glove after keeping seven clean sheets during the tournament.

The Netherlands won the FIFA Fair Play Trophy, recognising their discipline and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

According to FIFA, all individual honours were decided by the organisation's Technical Study Group, which assessed players' performances from the group stage through to the World Cup final.
