Anthony Joshua at a public event in Lagos following his discharge from hospital

British-Nigeria global boxing champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital following a tragic road accident in Lagos that led to the death of two members of his team.

The development was confirmed late Wednesday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, who said the boxer has been certified clinically fit to continue his recovery from home.

According to Omotoso, Joshua had been receiving medical care at Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi, after sustaining minor injuries in the crash.

The commissioner disclosed that following his discharge, Joshua, accompanied by his mother, visited a funeral home in Lagos where the remains of his late associates are being kept, to pay their final respects.

OBGIST reported earlier that the accident occurred on Monday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, when a Lexus SUV conveying Joshua and his team rammed into a stationary truck.

The crash claimed the lives of two of his close associates:

Both men died at the scene of the accident.

Joshua survived the crash with minor injuries and was immediately rushed to a Lagos-based medical facility for treatment.

The incident has sparked an outpouring of condolences from fans and figures within the global boxing community, as tributes continue to pour in for the late members of Joshua’s team.
