U.S. President Donald Trump has drawn fresh criticism after resharing a social media post that suggested journalist Don Lemon should be sent to prison.

The post, shared on Trump’s Truth Social account on Monday, targeted Lemon for reporting from an anti-ICE protest held outside Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The original message came from a user identified as “MoniFunGirl,” who argued that Lemon deserved up to 40 years in prison simply for being present at the protest.

The claim was based on a comparison to elderly women who reportedly received long sentences for protesting at abortion clinics under the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.

The post implied that Lemon’s actions were similar and should attract the same punishment.

Although Trump did not add any personal comment, his decision to repost the message was widely interpreted as endorsement.

The move came shortly after Harmeet Dhillon, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, stated that participants who disrupted the church service were under federal investigation.

According to her, potential charges could involve both the FACE Act and the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) Act, depending on the findings.

Don Lemon has maintained that he was at the scene purely in his professional capacity as a journalist.

However, footage from his livestream shows him briefly kissing one of the protest organizers on the cheek. Critics argue that this moment could complicate his claim of neutrality.

Legal analysts say such imagery may be used by investigators to question whether Lemon was only reporting or actively involved.
