Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed warns that Nigeria’s sovereignty is at risk under Tinubu after US calls for sanctions.
Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former political adviser to President Bola Tinubu, has raised a major alarm regarding the nation's independence. He claims the current administration is effectively surrendering Nigeria’s sovereignty to the United States.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television this Friday, the outspoken former aide expressed deep shock over what he described as the "denigration" of Nigeria.
He argued that the government’s approach is pitting citizens against one another and treating the country like a colony.
The controversy stems from a recent report by US Congressman Riley Moore. The American lawmaker has called for sanctions against Nigeria, specifically targeting the country’s blasphemy and Sharia laws, following allegations of Christian genocide.
Baba-Ahmed did not hold back, labeling the US recommendations as an "egregious violation" of Nigeria’s internal security and way of life.
He suggested that these moves are being fueled by powerful lobbyists and far-right groups in the US aiming to sow discord within Nigeria.
The former adviser noted that these foreign interventions disregard Nigeria's integrity. He stressed that the federal government must take a firm stand and condemn these actions unequivocally rather than appearing to submit to foreign pressure.
This development marks a significant moment of friction, as a former insider openly questions the administration's ability to protect the nation's pride on the global stage.
