A new report shows the Pentagon went on a $93 billion spending spree, splurging on luxury food and furniture.

A startling report has uncovered how the United States Department of Defense spent a staggering sum in just one month. Figures show the Pentagon splashed $93 billion in September 2025. This spending frenzy marks the highest level of end-of-year expenditure since 2008.

The analysis comes from the government watchdog group Open the Books. It appears the department was in a rush to exhaust its budget before the financial year ended. Observers link this to the federal government's "use-it-or-lose-it" funding policy.

The breakdown of expenses is quite revealing. Officials signed off on luxury food items, including $15 million for ribeye steaks and $6.9 million for lobster tails.

Millions more went to crab and salmon, while thousands were spent on donuts and ice cream machines.

Office upgrades also accounted for a huge part of the spending. The Pentagon spent $225 million on furniture, with thousands going to fruit basket stands.

A massive $3.5 billion was dedicated to cable TV services, alongside millions for Apple and Samsung devices.

Surprisingly, musical instruments also made the list. The Air Force spent nearly $99,000 on a grand piano for a senior officer’s residence.

This lavish spending contrasts sharply with recent cuts to Senator Mark Kelly's military pay.
