Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie is set to return to the desk on April 6, ending a near two-month break to search for her missing mother.

Savannah Guthrie returns to the Today show set after family absence.

Popular television anchor Savannah Guthrie is set to return to the "Today" show desk. She will resume her duties on April 6, following a break that lasted nearly two months.

Her co-host, Hoda Kotb, made the official announcement on Friday morning. Viewers can expect to see Guthrie back alongside Craig Melvin, who expressed the team's excitement to welcome her home.

This return comes after a difficult period for the journalist. She stepped away from the spotlight to focus on the search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie.

It would be recalled that Nancy was last seen on January 31 in Arizona. Since her disappearance, local police and the FBI have been working together to find her.

Despite obtaining doorbell footage of a suspect and investigating alleged ransom notes, authorities have not yet located her.

Guthrie has since returned to New York City from Arizona. In a heartfelt interview with Hoda, she admitted that coming back to work was a tough decision.

However, she views her return as part of her purpose. She described the "Today" show as her home and her family.

The anchor shared a poignant message about her mindset moving forward. She stated that her joy will be her protest and her answer during this trying time.
