Senator Aminu Tambuwal has officially dumped the PDP for the ADC, citing deep internal divisions within the opposition party.
The political landscape has witnessed a major shift. Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He made this move known in a formal letter addressed to his ward chairman.
Tambuwal, who currently serves as the Senator for Sokoto South, did not leave without giving reasons. In his letter dated March 11, he pointed to the lingering internal crisis within the party. He noted that the divisions have made it difficult for him to remain committed.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives has now found a new home. He announced that he has registered with the African Democratic Congress, ADC. He described the decision as one taken after deep thought and wide consultations.
Tambuwal expressed sadness that the unity which once defined the PDP is now lost. He believes the ongoing conflicts have weakened the party’s direction. For him, staying active in such an environment was no longer sustainable.
Despite his exit, the Senator showed gratitude to the PDP. He thanked the party for the opportunities he had to serve the country. However, he stressed that Nigeria needs a stronger platform built on integrity and accountability.
His move to the ADC signals a new chapter in his political career. It remains to be seen how this development will affect the balance of power in his home state.
