Former NFA Chairman Ibrahim Galadima Dies at 78

Former NFF Chairman Ibrahim Galadima is dead. The football legend passed away in Kano after a long illness.

The Nigerian football Association has been thrown into mourning following the death of Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima. 

The former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) passed away on Saturday. He was 78 years old.

A statement released by Kano Pillars Football Club confirmed the sad news. The club stated that the elder statesman died after a prolonged illness. Galadima was a colossus in sports administration.

He served as the head of the NFA, now known as the NFF, between 2002 and 2006. His tenure was marked by significant contributions to the growth of the game. 

He also played a key role in projecting Nigerian football on the international stage.

Galadima was not just an administrator; he was a builder. He is credited as the founder of Kano Pillars FC. His vision laid the foundation for the club to become a dominant force in the Nigerian league. He also served as the Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission.

The club’s management, led by Chairman Alhaji Ali Muhammad Umar and General Manager Ahmed Musa, has commiserated with the family. They described him as a respected figure whose legacy remains unmatched.

Funeral prayers have been scheduled for 10 am on Sunday at Masallacin Waje in Fagge Local Government Area, Kano. The football community has been asked to pray for the repose of his soul.
