Thai police went undercover as female dancers to arrest a drug dealer with 53 meth pills during a street festival in Lopburi.

Thai police officers in female dancer disguises after arresting a drug dealer in Lopburi.

Sometimes, fighting crime requires a serious wardrobe change. For a group of police officers in Thailand, this meant trading their uniforms for dresses and dancing shoes.

Five male officers and one female colleague went deep undercover. Their mission was to take down a notorious drug dealer who had been evading arrest.

The operation took place during a bustling street dance festival in Lopburi, a province in Thailand. To blend in perfectly with the crowd, the male officers dressed up as female dancers.

Their target was a man named Mekha Fa-wap-wap. Police had long suspected him of running an illegal drug operation in the area. By joining the festive street dancers, the cops were able to get close to him without raising any suspicion.

The disguise worked like a charm. When the moment was right, the officers dropped the act and moved in for the arrest. Mekha was completely caught off guard.

A quick search of the suspect confirmed the police suspicions. Officers found 53 methamphetamine pills in his possession. They also recovered more than 200 small plastic bags used for packaging the drugs and a mobile phone.

The law has since come down hard on the suspect. Mekha now faces charges for possessing category one narcotics with the intent to sell. He is also facing an additional charge for operating an unauthorized slot machine.

After the successful bust, the undercover team shared a lighthearted moment on Facebook. They posted a picture of themselves posing in their dresses and smiling broadly. The photo quickly went viral.

Social media users could not get enough of the creative sting operation. One person joked that it was like watching the Hollywood comedy "21 Jump Street" play out in real life.

For now, Mekha remains behind bars. He is firmly in police custody as he awaits the next steps in his legal battle.
