Kendrick Lamar dominated the 2026 Grammys, setting a new all-time record for rappers with 27 career wins.

Kendrick Lamar is now the most decorated rapper in the history of the Grammy Awards. During a historic night at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the Compton-born lyricist picked up five awards, bringing his career total to 27.

This incredible feat sees him move past the legendary Jay-Z, who previously held the record with 25 wins.

The 38-year-old superstar started his Sunday night victory lap early, picking up Best Rap Album for his latest project, GNX. But the wins didn’t stop there.

Lamar also secured the prestigious Record of the Year for "Luther," his hit collaboration with SZA.

By winning Record of the Year, Lamar has etched his name in the record books twice over. He is now the first rapper to win that specific category twice, and the first male artist to ever win it in two consecutive years.

His other wins for the night included Best Rap Performance for "Chains & Whips" (alongside Clipse, Pusha T, Malice, and Pharrell Williams), Best Melodic Rap Performance for "Luther," and Best Rap Song for "tv off."

While accepting his awards, Lamar stayed humble, focusing more on the music than the milestones. He told the audience that while he isn't the best at talking about himself, he prefers to let his songs do the speaking.

He also took a moment to salute his fellow nominees like Tyler, The Creator and the Clipse brothers.

"Hip-hop is always going to be right here," Lamar said, promising that the culture would continue to shine on the world’s biggest stages. "We’re going to be in these suits looking good, having our folks and the culture with us."

Going into the ceremony, Lamar was already the man to beat, leading the pack with nine nominations.

Other big names like Lady Gaga and Sabrina Carpenter also had a strong presence, but the night ultimately belonged to Kendrick.

With this latest achievement, the debate over his status in the "Greatest of All Time" conversation has surely reached a new level.
