Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has cleared over N398 million for the 2026 Ramadan feeding and Tafsir sessions across the state.

The initiative is designed to provide relief to vulnerable residents during the upcoming holy month. This year, the government is expanding its reach, increasing the number of feeding centers from 101 to 130 across all 17 Local Government Areas.

Each of these centers will provide Iftar meals for 100 people every day throughout the fasting period.

The total budget covers two main areas. About N338 million is dedicated to buying rams, cooking ingredients, and other food items for the centers.

Another N60 million has been set aside as allowances for Muslim clerics who will conduct the Tafsir (religious teachings) to provide spiritual guidance to the faithful.

To ensure the kitchens are well-stocked, the Governor also approved the distribution of 2,300 bags of rice and 400 jerrycans of cooking oil to the various centers.

While flagging off the distribution of these items, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Yusuf Umar, praised the Governor for his consistency.

He noted that the program is a clear sign of the administration's heart for the poor.

However, the Commissioner issued a stern warning to those in charge of the centers. He made it clear that the government will not tolerate any mismanagement or diversion of the food items.

According to him, the materials must reach the intended beneficiaries to ensure the program’s success.

By increasing the number of centers and the budget, the Yobe State government hopes to foster a spirit of unity and provide much-needed support for thousands of families during this sacred time.
